This year’s conference in Albuquerque is bringing some new things to our regular slate of programming – including, but certainly not limited to…a celebration of AAMG’s 45th year! (We started in 1980) Our new coordinator, Katie, has created a limited edition, particular to #AAMG2025, screenprint design that we will be screenprinting on site onto 45 tote bags – the first 45 registrants for conference this year will receive one of these limited edition totes to carry around and take home with them.
*AAMG Members: if you membership is due for renewal and at least one person from your institution plans on attending conference, you might take a look at the Maroon sponsorship level opportunity this year. The Maroon levels gets an annual membership plus one free conference registration. Additionally, be sure to renew your membership (if not already done so) by May 22 to cast your vote in our officer election.
All conference registrants will be sent access to our conference platform, Whova, in early June. All conference communications will come through our membership database, Wild Apricot in advance of the onsite conference and then through Whova during the conference itself.
*Any accessibility requirements must be received by email to aacademicmg@gmail.com by May 1st for accommodations.
General Registration Includes:
AAMG and our host institution, the University of New Mexico Art Museum, have worked hard over the last year to put together as many details in advance of registration release to inform registrants of what they can expect during their time in Albuquerque. However, updates and edits and continued additions are always to be expected as we get closer and closer to this year’s event. The schedule of sessions and other detailed events will post here to our site by early March.
For your travel and hotel booking needs you can expect the following schedule outline:
- Tuesday, June 24: Registration desk opens at 12:00pm MST, with 15 offered afternoon sessions kicking off the conference at 12:30pm, 3:00pm, and 4:30pm MST
- Our opening reception and activities will follow Tuesday evening starting at 6:00pm MST
- Wednesday, June 25: Our first full day of sessions and events will take place starting at 9:00am MST and ending with a bus ride to Ideum for an evening reception at their facility (details below)
- Thursday, June 26: Our second full day of sessions and events will take place starting at 9:00am MST and ending with our signature affinity dinners. These are informal gatherings at a number of local eateries each on different topics of discussion. The topics and sign up sheets will be posted at the registration table and seating for each dinner will be first come, first served. So be sure to check out the open spots when you arrive and check in. *Dinners are at your own cost and not included in registration.

Wednesday Evening Reception at Ideum
Ideum is a 25-year-old experience design firm based in Corrales, New Mexico. We have worked with museums and corporations worldwide to develop cutting-edge interactive exhibits. Ideum develops multitouch hardware, designs and fabricates custom exhibits, and develops interactive software.
We would like to invite you to our open house for a tour of our facilities on June 25th from 6-10 pm. You will have the opportunity to interact with our exhibits, try out multitouch tables and displays, and enjoy local food, beer, and wine. Ideum will provide shuttles between the UNM campus and our firm for transportation back and forth for all AAMG conference registrants.
*This event is included in the registration costs for every registrant.

Advocacy Letter for Conference Attendance
We understand that attending professional conferences often requires approval from supervisors or institutions. To support our members in making the case for their participation, we’ve created a template letter that you can customize to advocate for your attendance at the 2025 Association of Academic Museums and Galleries (AAMG) Conference.
This letter outlines the invaluable professional development opportunities, networking benefits, and institutional impact of attending AAMG2025: Belonging—Storytelling Across Campus and Community.
Download the template and personalize it to highlight how the conference aligns with your role and institutional goals. By securing your spot early, you can also take advantage of discounted registration rates.
We hope this resource helps you gain the support you need to join us in Albuquerque!
