Curator: The Cornell Fine Arts Museum, Rollins College

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL seeks a dynamic, experienced Curator to oversee a growing collection and an ambitious schedule of exhibitions, programs and publications. The museum has been on a path of rapid growth and is engaged in plans for a new facility; the Curator will work closely with the Director to take the museum into its next institutional phase and future home. The museum’s holdings of more than 5,500 works of art ranging from antiquity to contemporary include the only European Old Masters collection in the Orlando area, a sizable American art collection, and the forward-looking Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art, shown both at the museum and at The Alfond Inn, a few blocks from campus. Exhibitions and educational programs built around and complementing the permanent collection change seasonally. The museum, actively engaged with Rollins students and faculty, is also a dynamic community museum for the greater Orlando area. The curator reports to the Director and supervises a staff of four. We are looking for an innovative team player, a thoughtful leader and a superb communicator who loves to teach and is not afraid to think outside the box.

Qualifications:

–          An advanced degree in Art History; Ph.D. with specialty in contemporary art strongly preferred

–          Broad knowledge of European and American art history

–          At least 10 years of significant curatorial experience and a record of publication

–          Experience in a college art museum managing a broad scope of collections a plus
