The City of Las Vegas has positioned itself as a leader in the cultural arts community beyond the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas Strip. The City seeks creative, motivated professionals who will embrace the opportunity to further enhance the role of the arts in Southern Nevada to serve as its new Director of Cultural Affairs. With a growing population in excess of 610,000, Las Vegas is surrounded by mountains and desert providing spectacular scenery and a warm climate. Las Vegas residents enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Tree-lined streets, creative parks and abundant pedestrian/bicycle trails make residential living comfortable in neighborhoods that are very affordably priced.

The Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) operates, manages and programs three facilities (the West Las Vegas Arts Center, Historic Fifth Street School, and the Charleston Heights Arts Center). The OCA also manages and programs two amphitheaters, two mobile stages, and six gallery spaces, while working with an Arts Commission on public art projects and with the community on ongoing museum development. The OCA is comprised of four functional work groups (Production Services Unit addressing the technical needs of theatre offerings, outdoor events/amphitheaters, and Mayor/Council events; Visual Unit coordinating the city’s art galleries, art collection, and public art programs; Administrative Staff; and Arts Connection handling all activities associated with the OCA’s mobile stages). OCA resources include 32 employees and a $4.8 million budget.

A minimum of six years of professional experience in cultural affairs, performing arts or theater management, including two years of supervisory and administrative responsibility is required, as is a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, theater management, public administration or business administration or a related field. A combination of equivalent education and related experience is considered qualifying. A detailed brochure is available.
