Museum Registrar: Art Museum of South Texas, Texas A&M Corpus Christi

Art Museum of South Texas Position Description Summary This position is responsible for the cataloging, care and preservation of all fine art objects related to the collection of the Art Museum of South Texas by maintaining an accurate database and insuring proper storage art. In addition, this position will assist with temporary exhibits, assisting with the scheduling of transportation, insurance, loan agreements, condition care, facilities reports and related documentation.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies or closely related field.

Two (2) years’ related experience working as a registrar or in a curatorial position.

Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum experience requirements.

Experience in a museum, library or gallery setting, with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Knowledge of databases, including FileMaker Pro or similar.

Must be organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to provide business correspondence through digital and written formats and to be able to communicate well to a broad range of individuals including donors, volunteers, artists, and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Museum Studies, Art History or closely related field.

Three (3) years’ museum registration/collection management experience.

Rights and reproduction experience.
