Tour and Docent Experiences Manager – Indiana University Eskenazi Museum of Art

Job Summary

The Tour and Docent Experiences Manager will be the Eskenazi Museum of Art’s leader in creating and overseeing tours and docent experiences.  This manager will lead docent recruitment, training, and programming, develop tours and tour techniques, and coordinate tours for preK-12, university, and public audiences. The successful candidate will be an engaging people-person with a strong ability to connect teachers, students, and volunteers with the museum collection.  This position is full-time, 12-months-a-year and reports to the Director of Education.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in art education, museum studies, education, art history or relevant humanities field and two years of experience working with volunteer groups.

Knowledge of current trends, resources, and information related to volunteerism, gallery teaching, and art museum education.

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong leadership and ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Ability to work collegially with staff, faculty, and the arts community. Demonstrated ability to supervise as well as to work successfully with others. Proven ability to handle a variety of tasks concurrently in a complex environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.  Two years of experience managing volunteers in an art museum or similar setting.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands
Ability to work while standing for up to 10 hours; lift 40 pounds; monitor programs and respond quickly to needs of clients, guests, and security.

Salary Range: $34,175-$39,395

Salary Plan: PAO

Salary Grade: 2AD

FLSA: Non-Exempt
