In this session, we will present a case study of The Watermill Center implementation of CollectionSpace, and lead participants through the process of planning for the implementation of a new collections management software application. While CollectionSpace will be the example system used, topics covered will be applicable for any organization looking to adopt a new museum collections management system, including: Preparing functional requirements documentation, Working with staff on a stakeholder analysis, Preparing a data analysis and map, Creating cataloging and data entry guidelines and documentation, Acceptance testing design and deployment.

1:30 -4:30 p.m.

In this session, we will lead participants through the process of installing and performing basic configuration work on a stand-alone instance of CollectionSpace. Participants will install the software, create user accounts, set up basic roles and permissions, and may then catalog or otherwise document sample objects from their collections.  Participants will leave the workshop with a fully-functional version of CollectionSpace ready to use at their home organization. Materials distributed prior to the workshop will cover hardware and system requirements for participants.
