August Member of the Month

Meet Amanda Lowry Wiberg (she/her) a Collections Associate at the Southern Utah Museum of Art and a graduate student at Southern Utah University!
What’s one thing — either industry/work-related or not — you learned in the past month?
This past month I’ve been learning how to build frames!
What do you value about your membership with AAMG?
I love that AAMG gives me opportunities to learn about what other students in my field are doing! It’s so helpful to learn from my peers who work at different organizations and grow my perspective.
Coffee or Tea?
Hot Chocolate

Book/Author suggestion?
All the Beauty in the World: The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Me by Patrick Bringley
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
History Teacher
What do you enjoy most about being a part of an academic museum?
I love being able to use what we have in our collection to help students from a variety of disciplines. It’s so cool to be see STEM majors come in and use art to help them in their degrees. I feel like we’re really building bridges and challenging the stigma that humanities are “less than”.
What are your hopes for our industry?
I hope academic museums continue to become safe spaces for all students.
