Call for Nominations:
The Association of Academic Museums and Galleries (AAMG) invites nominations for the position of President. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic organization dedicated to advancing the role of academic museums and galleries in higher education.
About the Roles
The President serves as the chief elected officer of AAMG and provides strategic leadership to the Board and membership. Responsibilities include guiding organizational priorities, representing AAMG nationally, and fostering collaboration across academic museums and galleries. The President works closely with the Board of Directors and AAMG Staff to ensure the association’s mission and vision are achieved.
The Treasurer manages the organization’s funds, collects payments, and oversees deposits. They prepare the annual budget, give financial reports to the board and members, and provide updates as needed. After each fiscal year, the treasurer submits a final financial report and helps ensure the organization’s finances are transparent and well‑managed. The Governance Committee has already received a nomination for Treasurer: Isra El-beshir. Isra is the Director of Art Museum and Galleries at Washington and Lee University.
Eligibility
Nominees should be individual members in good standing who are experienced leaders within academic museums, galleries, or related fields with a demonstrated commitment to AAMG’s mission and values. Prior service on the AAMG Board or committees is strongly encouraged but not required.
Term of Service
The President serves a three-year term, beginning immediately following a successful vote at the annual business meeting.

- Contact information
- A brief statement of qualifications and vision for AAMG
- Current CV or résumé
