June Member of the Month

Meet Christian a PhD Candidate in art history Anderson Collection at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA!
What’s one thing — either industry/work-related or not — you learned in the past month?
How incredible Lewis Hyde’s “The Gift” is!
What do you value about your membership with AAMG?
I really enjoy the way it allows for connection across University museums I felt like I got a much better appreciation for incredible plurality and brilliance of the work being done by fellow institutions which often gets overshadowed by a myopic focus on the traditional names.
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be?
Miuccia Prada
Coffee or Tea?
Coffee

Book/Author suggestion?
After Whiteness by Willie James Jennings
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
a Paleontologist
What do you enjoy most about being a part of an academic museum?
The excitement of being in a laboratory space, being able to provoke and engage in meaningful and urgent conversations with folks from all over.
What are your hopes for our industry?
I hope it becomes less centered on market forces. That there are more institutions that might be able to support spaces that open up work to conversations and discourses that move beyond the jargon that often makes it inaccessible.
