Education Curator, Kentucky Museum at Western Kentucky University

Christy Spurlock became the Kentucky Museum’s first Education Curator in 2005. As a WKU associate professor, she develops educational programs for diverse audiences and educators; plans and implements workshops and community outreach events; recruits, trains, and supervises interns, volunteers and student workers. Each year, the Museum serves thousands of K-12 students, educators, WKU students and faculty, and the general public through a diverse offering of programming and services. Dr. Spurlock especially enjoys working with both campus and community partners to organize and present collaborative projects. Recent examples include: Facing the Freshman Year, Journey to the Vote and Herstory@wku. Prior to becoming a museum educator, Spurlock taught high school, and served in the United States Army. As a result of her varied professional background, Dr. Spurlock brings a wide range of skills and expertise to her museum work.
