Kandis Barker, Curator of Education, and Jane Hanni, Asst. Curator of Education, Mulvane Art Museum, Topeka, KS, foster a comprehensive learning model: Look, Create, & Understand. Through this, we provide museum art education for people of all ages and dovetail Washburn University and the Topeka area community, affording opportunities to learn in-and-through the visual arts. The Mulvane provides life-long learning through school and community outreach, University and on-site programs, guided exhibition tours, special projects, and our creativity-based ArtLab. Kandis Barker graduated from Washburn University, Topeka, KS, in 1996 with a BFA in Painting, a BA in Art History, and Study Abroad in Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa. In 2005, Barker earned her Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, emphasizing Museum Art Education across Disciplines. She joined the Mulvane staff in 1995 as a part-time artist-educator and continued to establish her professional career at the Mulvane Art Museum, Washburn University.
