Wichita State University seeks a Director for the Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of Art, the premier venue for modern and contemporary art in Wichita and greater Kansas.
The position reports to the University Provost on a campus of 15,000 students in the largest metropolitan area in Kansas. Supervising a professional staff of seven to engage and inspire an annual audience of 20,000 to 25,000, the Director oversees a $1.2 million annual budget; 7,000 sq. feet of galleries presenting from 8 to 10 exhibitions each year; and a permanent collection of 7,000 artworks with a nationally renowned on-campus sculpture exhibit of 78 large-scale works. Providing artistic and executive leadership, the Director works with an active Advisory Board of community and university leaders as well as the Ulrich Museum Alliance to advance the museum’s reputation for excellence in Wichita, across the state, and throughout the country. The Ulrich holds accreditation from the American Association of Museums and its outdoor sculpture has been ranked among top ten public art collections on a university campus by Public Art Review.
