Director/Curator: Perlman Teaching Museum, Carleton College

Carleton College seeks a Director/Curator of the Perlman Teaching Museum. The new Director/Curator will provide leadership in arts programming based in the Perlman Teaching Museum. A specialist in and advocate for visual teaching and learning, the Director-Curator will oversee exhibition planning, develop strong collaborative relationships with faculty, and foster and strengthen the pedagogical role of exhibitions and the art collection in the college. The Director-Curator will be chief steward of the college art collection, shaping its growth and use in alignment with the college mission.

Essential job functions include: collaboration with the Arts and Exhibitions Committee and colleagues across the college to articulate a vision and plan exhibitions for the Perlman Teaching Museum; coordination and consultation with other campus exhibitors; collaboration with College Communications to promote museum programming; oversight of museum staff; integration of students into museum programming; and development of collaborative relationships with other galleries or museums.

The successful candidate must possess a graduate degree (minimum M.A. or equivalent) in art history, museum studies, or related field, have demonstrated experience organizing exhibitions and managing collections (3 or more years), and possess excellent communication skills.
