The University Museums at Colgate is seeking an Education and Outreach Manager who is passionate about student engagement in museum spaces and energized by opportunities to implement innovative museum programming.
The University Museums consists of Picker Art Gallery and the Longyear Museum of Anthropology. Reporting to two co-directors, this position will have primary responsibility for overseeing education and student engagement for both museums. He/she/they will work alongside colleagues whose roles also span the two museums and their collections. The University Museums are at an exciting point in their history. As a key component of Colgate’s ambitious Middle Campus Plan for Arts, Creativity, and Innovation, our team is currently reenvisioning and redefining how academic museums fit into the contemporary liberal arts experience and into the cultural fabric of the regional communities into which the campus is embedded. Our strategic plan prioritizes implementing decolonizing practices across museum operations, creating a more inclusive and accessible program, increasing student and faculty engagement, enhancing collaborations on and off campus, and developing collections that represent a wider range of identities and experiences.
The Education and Outreach Manager provides key oversight in the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of educational programs for various museum audiences. This position also plays a lead role in promoting student engagement with the museums and overseeing student employees and ambassadors.
Starting salary will be in the low $50Ks. This is an exempt position eligible for full benefits.
