The Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth, seeks the Jonathan Little Cohen Associate Curator of American Art to research, document, exhibit, and teach with their American art collection. The position will support teaching and learning with art, create compelling permanent collection-based gallery installations, manage loan exhibitions, and generate original research for exhibition catalogues.
We are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in art history or a related field with an emphasis on American art and material culture plus three to five years’ experience, or a master’s degree plus two to three years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. They must demonstrate a broad knowledge of art history, curatorial practices, research, and methodology, with a critical understanding of museum ethics and principles, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Lastly they must have a demonstrated record of scholarship, the ability to mentor college students, and a commitment to diversity.
