Position Description

The Museum Programs Child Educator is responsible for delivering content and programs for children and families in alignment with the goals and objectives of the museum. The Child Educator works to ensure alignment and accessibility for all exhibit and programmatic offerings of the museum components (four galleries, CDZ, Great Hall, and Orientation Theater/Ramp) by targeting children and family audiences in evaluation, online resource development, and curriculum-based informal education (programs and self-directed activities) modules.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or Information Technology.
Prefer 5 years of experience in museum programming with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Family Programs Coordinator.
Experience in a variety of museum settings including: history, art, science, and natural history museums.
Ability to read and understand museum audience evaluation reports, program strategy documents, operational plans, and fundamental informal learning theory frameworks.
Excellent organizational skills, problem solving skills, and ability to work under pressure.
Excellent spoken and written English and familiarity with Arabic.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and Outlook.
International museum family programing and staff training experience is an advantage.

Duties & Responsibilities

Liaising with schools and other external organizations to identify and to refine develop museum programs and content for children and families.
Works with the museum team to integrate museum education and human development principles across all components.
Manage contacts and building relationships with museum community constituents
Assist in creating a master calendar for the museum programing plan.
Participate in special projects including offsite programs.
Participate in all company required training classes.
Schedule and attend regular staff meetings as required.
Assist with additional production needs as necessary.
