Museum Floor Manager – Dennos Museum Center, Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City

Summary & Qualifications:

Position Summary

This position is responsible for and manages the Front of House for the Dennos Museum Center & Dennos Museum Store 3-4 days per week, including weekends and during after-hours events. This position provides support for Museum staff and Museum advisory committees.

Qualifications

High School Diploma (Required)

Minimum of two years of computer skills, including knowledge of Internet, email, calendaring software, MS Word, Excel, Google Suite (Required)

Minimum of one year of customer service experience (Required)

Experience as a supervisor or volunteer coordinator (Preferred)

Associate’s Degree (Preferred)

Experience with database software (Preferred)

Experience with Point of Sale systems (Preferred)

Experience working in a museum or non-profit organization (Preferred) Essential Responsibilities

(Critical) Managing the Museum on weekends and at after-hours events.

(Critical) Overseeing the opening and closing of the Museum, its exhibits, and cash drawers at the Front Desk and in the Store.

(Critical) Providing excellent customer service to Museum visitors.

(Critical) Resolving customer complaints and incidents.

(Critical) Overseeing volunteers, supplemental staff, and/or student workers and interns.

(Critical) Operating the Dennos Museum Center lobby Front Desk and/or Museum Store as needed.

(Critical) Providing administrative support for 2-3 Museum committees that meet quarterly.

(Very Important) Completing projects for Museum staff (including data entry, membership processing, deposits, online store listings as needed).

(Very Important) Providing marketing support (making minor updates to the Museum’s website, writing the e-newsletter, updating digital signage) as needed.

(Important) Conducting basic research for grants and providing grant support to the Executive Director.

(Important) Reporting to Museum staff at Staff Meetings. Work Environment
