Isaac Gorres is an undergraduate senior at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where he concurrently studies Art History and Biochemistry/Molecular Biology. After graduation, he plans to pursue further education in the field of art conservation with the ultimate goal of becoming an art conservator in a museum. His primary research interests include the degradation of ephemeral materials–such as chocolate and human blood–that are increasingly seen in contemporary art objects. Additionally, he is currently researching the biodegradation of materials in art objects, including the decay of specific pigment molecules in a Northern Renaissance oil painting by antagonistic spore-forming bacteria in the genus Bacillus.
