Registrar – Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College

The Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, seeks an experienced and collaborative museum professional to serve as Registrar. This position manages the storage, maintenance, care, and loan of all works in the Hood’s encyclopedic collection of over 64,000 artworks and serves as the principal liaison from the registration department to curators, administrators, and the exhibitions team. The Registrar manages a team of two full-time registrars and the department’s resources, including its budget, and is a key contributor to large-scale projects across multiple collection storage facilities and exhibition spaces on and off Dartmouth’s campus. This position works closely with the Hood Museum of Art’s Curator of Collections to manage the accessioning and deaccessioning of artworks in and out of the collection, and to craft or update all plans, policies, and protocols related to the proper stewardship of artworks. Preferred candidates will display a commitment to serving the needs of diverse academic and community stakeholders, have extensive knowledge of collections management best practices, and have several years of management experience.
