Visiting Assistant Professor in Art History / Museum Studies

The Department of Art at Colorado College invites applications for a one-year non tenure-track position in art history and museum studies beginning August 22, 2023. Visiting Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) qualifications preferred; Instructor (ABD) possible. Prior teaching experience required. We are looking for an art historian with training and experience in teaching in both art history and museum studies to join a dynamic Art department. Research and teaching interests are open broadly within the fields of art history, with particular interest in global Early modern art history or other area that complements the current offerings/strengths of the department. There will be opportunities to collaborate with the Museum Studies programs at Colorado College, as well as innovative teaching engagements at the Fine Arts Center at Colorado College. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research and teaching, to the diverse perspectives of our academic community.

Colorado College is a highly selective private liberal arts college with a history of innovative, intensive, and interdisciplinary teaching. We operate on a unique academic calendar. The academic year is divided into eight three-and-one-half week “Blocks”; that is, students take and instructors teach only one Block at a time. The position includes six blocks of teaching, including four blocks of art history and two in museum studies. Minimum qualifications: MA and PhD candidacy (ABD) in art history and/or museum studies

Preferred qualifications: PhD in art history and/or museum studies
