Michiko Okaya, At-large

michikookaya-lrMichiko joined the board as treasurer of Association of College and University Museums and Galleries (ACUMG) in 2008. She shepherded ACUMG through the transition to AAMG; served as liaison between ACUMG/AAMG and the attorneys who submitted the application for 501c(3) status to the IRS, with non-profit status granted in 2011. She also updated policies and practices to be compliant with IRS non-profit organization guidelines; established online credit card payment for membership and conference registrations; worked closely with AAMG presidents on grant applications and reports. Her term as treasurer ended April 2015 and she is now a board member at large and a member of the finance committee.

I have been a member of AAMG since the early ACUMG days and value AAMG as an important voice for those of us who are embedded in parent organizations. Service on the board is an important way to participate in the conversation.
