The incoming faculty member will provide vision and guidance for the Museum Education curriculum and programming at UT. The faculty member will have a 2/2 teaching load and will instruct courses in museum education and art education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Division of UTeach Art/Art Education. The faculty member holding this position will also work closely with students in the Museum Portfolio Program and the Bridging Disciplines Program. The successful candidate is expected to coordinate the museum education graduate track and supervise master’s degree theses and internships. The faculty member is expected to serve on committees at the university, college, and department levels and is required to maintain prominent professional visibility and activity within the field of art education and museum education through scholarly publication and other research or scholarly activities.
Teaching experience in higher education and professional museum education experience preferred. Candidates for this position should ideally hold a terminal degree in Art Education or closely related field. However, candidates with extensive professional experience, and a graduate degree in a related field, are also welcome to apply. Tenured and tenure-track faculty must demonstrate an ongoing record of defining research and/or scholarly production, possess a knowledge of contemporary theories of art and art education, and a demonstrate an on-going commitment to serving diverse populations and working with communities/museums/schools.
