Associate Curator – The Jan Shrem and Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at the University of California, Davis

The Jan Shrem and Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at the University of California, Davis, is in search of a full-time Associate Curator. The Associate Curator will join an energetic start-up team in defining the purpose, mission and impact of a new art museum at a top-ten public research university, which is also the repository of an important art historical legacy. Reporting to the Founding Director and Chief Curator, the Associate Curator is responsible for the selection, research, development, planning, production, and interpretation of the permanent collection and special exhibitions from conception to de-installation. The Associate Curator conceives, organizes, writes publications for, and installs special and collection-based exhibitions as assigned and in collaboration with the Chief Curator.  Involves academic interpretation of objects in the Manetti Shrem collection and on loan. Recommends acquisitions, deaccessions and conservation for the Manetti Shrem. Conducts original research and presents/publishes results. May have administrative responsibilities and/or oversee the care of the collections and their documentation. Provide supervision for Curation support staff.
