Museum Education Coordinator: Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art, College of Charleston

Part-time, Entry level position, 20 hours a week with additional hours during periods of high activity

Responsibilities:

  • 70% of time spent:
  1. Assist the Director of Public Affairs in the implementation of all educational programs.
  2. Primary contact for tour booking and coordination process
  3. Maintain calendar of tours booked
  4. Lead guided exhibition tours
  5. Assist in recruiting and training Halsey Institute tour guides
  6. Identify and recruit potential new organizations, groups, and schools for participation in the guided tour program
  7. Coordinate evaluation process for educational programming to monitor tour success and develop improvements to programming
  8. Assist, on a project-by-project basis, with the implementation of educational outreach initiatives
  • 15% of time spent:   Manage the Halsey Institute Archives
  • 15% of time spent:  Manage the Halsey Institute’s library, Biblioteca

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Education or related fields
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong public speaking skills
