Museum Preparator – Weatherspoon Art Museum, UNC Greensboro, NC

The Weatherspoon Art Museum on the campus of UNC Greensboro seeks to hire a Museum Preparator.  Reporting to the Museum Registrar, this position supports the museum’s priorities through the timely and thorough completion of all aspects of exhibition installation and collection preparation, including handling, storing, packing, and shipping artwork. This individual executes safe handling and movement of artwork to support teaching with the collections and collection storage. He/she/they also participates in planning through exhibition design and layout assistance in consultation with the museum curators. This person works in close collaboration with the Lead Preparator in most tasks. All Weatherspoon staff supports the director in developing a vibrant and engaged community by promoting the museum’s strategic framework and goals.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in training or certification, as well as two years of relevant professional experience, including knowledge of matting, hinging, and framing of works on paper; object mount-making; lighting; or the presentation of new media.
